![]() Brian Richardson, Chief Removal Officer of Veteran Hauling, is a veteran-owned junk removal and demo company providing dependable services, with military precision, to businesses, property managers, and overwhelmed souls and has been operating since 2020. Veteran Hauling is one of the Chamber's veteran-owned business members. Brian has owned businesses most of his adult life. Financial services, business newspaper, loss prevention and now junk removal. He loves creating businesses. It’s just how he's wired. You can find Veteran Hauling on Facebook, on their website (veteranhauling.com), or by phone at 812-900-HAUL. You can even email them at [email protected]. Questions & Answers![]() What motivated you to start your own business? How did you develop the skills to start your own business? With several other business ventures in the past, I felt confident on the business side of Veteran Hauling. It took some time, effort, mistakes and training to fine tune the industry side of things. I’m always looking for ways to improve and create a better company for our customer and my team. What inspires your work and what sets you apart from everyone else? We exceed expectations every day. Communication is huge with our customers. We are in constant contact with them, before, during and after the job. Too many times I have seen poor customer service…especially in contractor/trades type services. We want to earn the “most sought after junk removal company” distinction in our area. What makes your business stand out from other businesses in Bloomington? We love what we do and truly appreciate each and every person (and pet) we come across in our daily journey. We want people to feel like they have been taken care of in the best way possible. We are not in a glamorous business. But we treat everyone with respect and courtesy. Have you won any awards or had any special recognition or acknowledgement of your business? If so, name them! We have over 150 5-star reviews. That is more important to us than anything. What has been your biggest success to date? Success comes in lots of shapes and sizes. We can count customers, add up the tons and tons of junk we have helped remove for our customers (300 tons in 2021). But our biggest success comes with a satisfied customer that says, “Thank you, we couldn’t have done it without you!” Many customers describe us as professional, polite, quick, punctual, great communicators, informative…that really means the world to us. 45% of our business is a combination of repeat customers and referrals. How awesome is that!? What has been your biggest challenge? Finding the right people to hire is a challenge. We want just the right mix of hard work, courtesy, and desire to make our customers feel respected. Anyone can throw junk in the back of a truck. But that is not what we look for in our people. I love our team. They make the company look great! What are your plans for the future of your business? We want to slowly expand to serve more customers. Getting the right mix of people, equipment and locations will be key. We can’t do any of that without our awesome customers! So we will build, one customer at a time.
