Advocacy​
The Chamber is working on your behalf at the city, county, state, and federal levels to raise the collective voice of business and advance issues of importance to the business community.  The Chamber works collaboratively with decision makers to find the best solutions to complex issues and create opportunities for input.  In addition to our role as a policy advocate for business, we are a community partner and the source for creating broad-based coalitions around issues we all care about.

Being an advocate for our member businesses and the community's business environment is one of the most important responsibilities of the Chamber. Our monthly electronic newsletter gives our members a closer look at current and emerging issues that affect business. In those time our members need to take action on a dynamic issue, your Advocacy and Public Policy team will issue a special Call for Action, giving you info on what you need to know and do.

Our biweekly electronic newsletter that gives a great rundown of all upcoming events and programming, new member updates and news being shared by our members (new hires, promotions, awards, events and opportunities). Membership Matter also contains a Job Board for members to share openings.

Member to Member emails are customized marketing pieces distributed to The Chamber's membership.  For an investment, The Chamber will take your images and verbiage and craft an email.  A Member to Member email is a great way to highlight an upcoming event, a holiday promotion, a milestone celebration or some other occasion.  Download the information flyer for details. ​

Welcome to the Chamber

The Chamber is a 501(c)(6) non-profit member-based organization founded in 1915. Our almost 900 member businesses include home-based businesses, small and medium-sized businesses, and large corporations. And we are glad to welcome you into this group. I encourage you to check out the Chamber website and the Chamber app for information about upcoming events, community involvement, and business advocacy efforts. Remember to log in to your Member Portal, located on the home page of the Chamber’s website to add in your business directory information, your logo, any community events, register for Chamber events, and much more. Your login credentials were sent to you by email from Stacia Briggs, the Member Services Coordinator.

Chamber Events

Chamber Events

Every year the Chamber hosts more than 50 events for members to network, learn and grow. Visiting the Chamber Events Calendar to see events and save the dates. We host annual, hallmark events designed to connect you with fellow members and introduce you to business and community leaders like Futurecast, the Chamber’s Annual Meeting, and even the Golf Scramble. We even host advocacy events such as Elect Connect, and Legislative Preview. Make sure to check out all of our signature events on our website.

​The most popular event is the Business After Hours. Business After Hours is a great opportunity for Chamber member business professionals to network and connect. The location varies each month – a Chamber member hosts and takes advantage of the opportunity to show off their organization.  Business After Hours is a free event, open to any employee of a Chamber member business. If you are a new attendee at Business After Hours, our Ambassadors will gladly show you around and introduce you to attendees.

f you or any of your employees would consider themselves a young professional, or even young at heart, check out the Chamber’s Young Professionals Bloomington group. Its mission is to create a network of young professionals in the greater Bloomington area that fosters personal development through relationship building, skill enhancement, community enrichment, and career advancement opportunities. Another fantastic professional development group within the Chamber’s foundation is the Bloomington Women in Leadership group. BWIL is a professional women's group that empowers, inspires, and engages through mentorships, professional development, and community. The Chamber offers incredible marketing and promotional benefits that drive traffic and new customers. Your business's presence on The Chamber's online business directory puts you in front of the more than 150,000 visitors to our site each year. This is one of our most visited pages on our website as it’s used as a search engine for the Bloomington and surrounding communities. In your member portal, you have the ability to update your listing description, just click “edit your profile” in your member portal. You can add both a long and short description, as well as, keywords. The Success School

The Success School

There are a ton of ways to get involved with the Chamber’s foundation. The Success School acts as the connection between the business and the education communities. The Success School’s mission is to provide real-world learning opportunities for area students to increase academic engagement and excite young people about future careers to help shape tomorrow’s workforce for employers in Monroe County.
​Membership Success Grant Opportunity
The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce is offering a limited number of grants to cover one year of membership dues at the Home-based/remote, Classic, and Executive levels.

​To be eligible, a business must be:
✔ a small business/entrepreneur
✔ eager to engage with the Chamber and local business community
✔ registered with the State of Indiana
✔ located within the City of Bloomington
✔ able to show financial need and potential for growth

The Chamber is committed to fostering an inclusive business community and encourages applications from minority-owned, women-owned, veteran-owned, LGBTQ+-owned, and other historically underrepresented businesses.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until funding is depleted — apply early!

The mission of the Chamber Ambassadors is to promote the role of The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce in the community.

•    Encourage current members to maximize their membership. 
•    Aid in the retention rate of new and existing members through reinforcing the Chamber benefits.

Meet Your Chamber Welcome Committee!

Welcome Committee Members are an important part of the Chamber and are selected based on the individual’s interest, dependability, integrity, energy, and communication skills. Your job is to utilize those skills and provide a positive image with our membership and the Chamber, and our community and the Chamber.

The mission of the Welcome Committee is to promote the role of the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce in the community by welcoming new members. Committee Members create a positive image for the Chamber by acting as liaisons between members and the Chamber Staff.
