Bloomington Women in Leadership (BWIL) is a professional women's group that empowers, inspires, and engages through mentorships, professional development, and community. BWIL is a program of The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce, and is open to Chamber and community members.

Mission

Bloomington Women in Leadership (BWIL) is designed to help professional women and their allies to build a meaningful network of women through intentional peer and mentoring relationships.

Vision

To empower, inspire, elevate, and engage women in all seasons of their leadership journey through networking, community engagement, and inspiring speaker programs.  We’re here to help find the opportunities that resonate with your professional needs and aspirations.
BWIL began in 2019 to support professional women and their allies to build a meaningful network of women through intentional peer and mentoring relationships.

For women in all seasons of their leadership journey, BWIL offers regular meetings and professional development opportunities to meet your professional needs and help you reach your aspirations.

We recognize learning as a continual process throughout one’s life. We value the opportunity to learn from the wisdom of thought leaders and experts as well as through discussion and sharing our personal experiences and perspectives.

Who: Professional women and their allies are invited to join.

What: Opportunity to connect women and their allies across professions and generations through various networking and professional development events on a regular basis.

Where: Greater Bloomington area - Events are hosted primarily at women-owned/managed businesses/organizations.

Why: Women are relational by nature and are the glue that keep communities and organizations connected. The desire to help other women succeed will help BWIL women recharge their professional batteries, develop meaningful relationships, and learn more about local women-owned and managed businesses.

BWIL Events

BWIL Pillars

Inspire

BWIL “Inspire” events seek to create a platform for women to share their personal stories and life lessons, giving you motivation and practical advice to apply in your everyday life. These events are all about encouragement, growth, and leaving you feeling inspired to take on new challenges!

Engage

BWIL "Engage" events partner with local non-profit organizations and give back to the community. These programs should focus on participants spending quality time engaging with and enhancing the community and learning about the partner organization who strives to improve the Bloomington community.

Elevate

BWIL "Elevate" events provide a safe space for attendees to learn and grow personally and professionally by fostering supportive relationships and exchange of ideas to advance each other. These programs should contribute to building the professional network of attendees through thoughtful workshops, seminars, or any format deemed appropriate for the recruitment and retention of professional multi-faceted women willing to engage in supportive professional peer and mentor relationships.

Empower

BWIL "Empower" events offer trainings to help participants grow professionally. These programs should contribute to the professional development of participants through informative workshops, seminars, or any format deemed appropriate.

The image shows a group of women engaged in a team-building activity where they are working on assembling a puzzle. One participant is wearing an eye mask as part of the challenge, while others are actively helping to put the pieces together. The table in front of them is set with water bottles, a box of cookies, and documents, along with a small vase of sunflowers. The participants are focused and collaborating, creating an interactive and supportive atmosphere. The event is likely a workshop or team-building exercise aimed at enhancing communication and problem-solving skills.
If you are interested in supporting BWIL, please contact Eric Spoonmore, Chamber President & CEO.
