The 2nd Annual Career Cruise was held on November 21, 2024, at the Monroe Convention Center with almost 1000 middle school students from Monroe County. Students visited four ports on the cruise, interacting with 50 businesses and organizations to learn about various careers available right here in Monroe County! Many thanks to Solution Tree, IU Health Bloomington, Simtra BioPharma Solutions, and the Sophia Travis Community Service Grant for making this event possible!

On Tuesday, November 19th, the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce's Bloomington Women in Leadership (BWIL) group hosted it's quarterly events. This event, "Rise Together: The Collective Power of our Story," was led by Audra Lampkins, owner of Unleashed Coaching, and Reach High Consulting and Therapy. In collaboration with the Bloomington Rotary Club, Futurecast: Bloomington gathered a panel of economic experts from IU’s Kelley School of Business, and local leaders on Thursday, November 7th at Ivy Tech Community College's Shreve Hall. This panel of experts imparted valuable insights, offering attendees a comprehensive forecast of the economic outlook for the coming year at federal, state, county, and city levels. The Kelley School of Business, based on research from its Indiana Business Research Center, has been sharing its economic forecasts throughout the state of Indiana for the past 50 years, which has provided crucial economic information needed by many Indiana businesses, government, and nonprofit organizations. This event gave the audience a chance to hear and interact with several of the state's leading economic thinkers as they discuss how the changing economic environment will affect the local region, Indiana, and the nation in the coming year. During this event, we heard from candidates on the ballot focusing on the races between District 3 County Commissioner - Joe VanDeventer (R) and Jody Madeira (D) - and District 62 Indiana State Representative - Dave Hall (R) (incumbent) and Thomas Horrocks (D). On Thursday, August 22, 2024, The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce held it's 14th annual Women Excel Bloomington awards ceremony at One World at Woolery Mill. With over 250 attendees, our five award winners were able to celebrate all that they have accomplished. The 2024 Women Excel Bloomington award winners are: Leslie Abshier, Michelle Cole, Dr. Gloria Howell, Samantha Morran, and the Mae Cassady Lifetime Achievement recipient Sherry Dunbar-Kruzan.
