On Wednesday, October 12, 2022, The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce's Bloomington Women in Leadership group participated in a community engagement day with Girls Inc. of Monroe County. During this event, volunteers created toiletries to-go packs to put in the local schools girls bathrooms, bringing awareness to period poverty in our community. After three shifts, volunteers created 654 packs! Girls Inc. programming focuses on the development of the whole girl. Their comprehensive approach addresses all aspects of a girl's life and helps her discover and develop her inherent strengths and grow up healthy, educated, and independent. A combination of long-lasting mentoring relationships, a pro-girl environment, and research-based programming equips girls to lead fulfilling and productive lives, break the cycle of poverty, and become role models in their community.
