Monroe County Humane Association Celebrates Selection for the Community Foundation's Matching Endowment Campaign

Monroe County Humane Association (MCHA) is honored to announce its selection as one of the 18 esteemed local nonprofits participating in the Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County’s (CFBMC) matching endowment campaign. This initiative serves to strengthen nonprofit organizations by matching funds raised for endowments, with MCHA setting an ambitious goal of $20,000 that, once met, will be matched by the Community Foundation for a total of $40,000.

MCHA is among a group of 18 exceptional local nonprofits chosen for this campaign, including Beacon, Buskirk Chumley Theater, Boys & Girls Clubs of Bloomington, Cancer Support Community South Central Indiana, Community Kitchen, Conservation Law Center, Constellation Stage & Screen, Lake Monroe Water Fund, Meals on Wheels, Monroe County United Ministries, Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, New Hope for Families, Sycamore Land Trust, United Way of South Central Indiana, USA International Harp Competition, WFHB Community Radio, and WonderLab.

"We are immensely thankful to the CFBMC’s board and staff for their support,” said Andrew Krebbs, Executive Director of MCHA. “This matching campaign not only benefits Monroe County Humane Association and the animals we serve but also strengthens the network of compassion and service that is the backbone of our community."

MCHA Teams Up with Bloomington Animal Shelter to Offer Low-Cost, Appointment-Free Vaccine Clinic for Dogs and Cats

Monroe County Humane Association (MCHA) and the City of Bloomington Animal Care & Control (BACC) are teaming up this March to bring accessible vaccines and basic wellness services to local dog and cat owners.

As two of the leading animal welfare organizations serving our community, this event is another exciting milestone in an ongoing partnership that brings together our shared goals for responsible pet ownership and access to basic veterinary services for all members of our community.

On Sunday, March 3, 2024, the Bloomington Animal Shelter, located at 3410 S Walnut St., will be generously hosting the MCHA veterinary team from 1-3 p.m. with no appointment needed; all are welcome!

The purpose of the Parking Commission is, in coordination with decision-makers and other entities as is necessary or prudent: (1) to develop, implement, maintain, and promote a comprehensive policy on parking that takes into account the entirety of, and furthers the objectives of, the city’s comprehensive plan; and (2) to coordinate parking activities, to carry on educational activities in parking matters, to supervise the preparation and publication of parking reports, to receive comments and concerns having to do with parking matters, and to recommend to the common council and to appropriate city officials ways and means for achieving the city’s comprehensive plan objectives through the administration of parking policies and the enforcement of parking regulations.

Denzil Ross joins IU Health as South Central Region President

IU Health is excited to welcome accomplished healthcare and hospital administrator Denzil Ross as the new South Central Region President.

“I am honored to join such a prestigious organization and be part of an amazing and dedicated team that’s doing such great things,” says Ross. “The organization's mission of making Indiana one of the healthiest states in the country is one I am fully aligned with, and I am excited to join in that journey in collaboration with this community.”

Starting Monday, Feb. 19, Ross will lead strategic and operational avenues for IU Health Bloomington, IU Health Bedford Hospital, IU Health Morgan, IU Health Paoli Hospital and over 60 ambulatory clinics and joint ventures encompassing more than 5,000 team members in seven counties.

“We are pleased to have a successful healthcare leader like Denzil leading the IU Health South Central Region,” says Brian Shockney, IU Health System Regional Operations Senior Vice President. “Denzil’s strong background in operations of new hospital facilities, improving access and quality of care across many services, and recognition for strong community engagement will ensure our Hoosiers continue to have a strong partner in continually improving access and excellence in healthcare.”

Northwest Bank Launches New Employee Resource Groups, Strengthens Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Northwest Bank, a full-service financial institution offering a complete line of business and personal banking solutions, has introduced two new employee resource groups (ERGs) which serve as platforms for employees to connect, collaborate and contribute to a more inclusive workplace culture. The newly established ERGs include PRISM LGBTQ+ and Veterans & First Responders – both aimed at promoting inclusivity, diversity and professional development within the bank.
 
Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are voluntary, employee-led groups made up of individuals who join together based on common interests, backgrounds or demographic factors. These groups are designed to be a sounding board for the organization by raising awareness on key issues, providing support and feedback and sharing their cultures and values.
 
The PRISM LGBTQ+ group is committed to cultivating a workplace where LGBTQ+ employees and their allies feel welcomed, supported and empowered to bring their authentic selves to work. The Veterans & First Responders group honors all who have served and are serving by celebrating military and first responder culture, knowledge, awareness and advocacy. Both groups are open to all Northwest employees.

Miles, President and Chief Executive Officer of Penske Entertainment Corp., as the keynote speaker for the 13th Annual Cook Center for Entrepreneurship Luncheon Wednesday, March 27 at 11:30 a.m. The keynote conversation will be moderated by Dan Peterson, Vice President, Industry and Government Affairs for Cook Group, Inc. and Commissioner with the Indiana Commission for Higher Education.
 
“Mark Miles will share his valuable insights on the long history of innovation and entrepreneurship from the leadership at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the lasting impact Penske Entertainment Corp. has on the Hoosier economy,” said Steve Bryant, Executive Director of the Ivy Tech Cook Center for Entrepreneurship.
