About the Speaker: Professor Scott J. Shackelford serves on the faculty of Indiana University where he is Cybersecurity Program Chair along with being Director of the Ostrom Workshop Program on Cybersecurity and Internet Governance. He is also an Affiliated Scholar at both the Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs and Stanford’s Center for Internet and Society, as well as a Senior Fellow at the Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research, and a Term Member at the Council on Foreign Relations. Professor Shackelford has written more than 100 articles, book chapters, essays, and op-eds for diverse outlets ranging from the University of Illinois Law Review and the American Business Law Journal to the Huffington Post, and the San Francisco Chronicle. Similarly, Professor Shackelford’s research has been covered by diverse outlets, including Politico, NPR, Forbes, Time, Associated Press, Forensics Magazine, Washington Post, and the LA Times. He is also the author of Managing Cyber Attacks in International Law, Business, and Relations: In Search of Cyber Peace (Cambridge University Press, 2014). Both Professor Shackelford’s academic work and teaching have been recognized with numerous awards, including a Harvard University Research Fellowship, a Stanford University Hoover Institution National Fellowship, a Notre Dame Institute for Advanced Study Distinguished Fellowship, the 2014 Indiana University Outstanding Junior Faculty Award, and the 2015 Elinor Ostrom Award. Hope for the Holidays presented by Catalent is open daily Tuesday, Nov. 15, through Thursday, Nov. 17, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in The Pavilion at Switchyard Park, located at 1601 S. Rogers Street. For the closest and most convenient parking, guests are encouraged to enter Switchyard Park through the west entrance from South Rogers Street. Indiana Members Foundation, the charitable arm of Indiana Members Credit Union (IMCU), hosted its Annual Golf Outing at Valle Vista Golf Course, 755 East Main Street, Greenwood, on Wednesday, June 29, 2022. 128 golfers attended the sold out event which raised over $29,000 to benefit the Indiana Members Foundation, whose mission is to support children in the Indianapolis and surrounding communities through its scholarship and grant programs which include the Robert E Martin Collegiate Scholarship Program, Mike & Marti Ney “People Helping People” Grant Program, The Terry Renick Legacy Golf Scholarship and Joan Wolfe Legacy Grant for the Arts. Highlights of the day included a complimentary breakfast and a recognition dinner. Depreciation Protection and ICA, INC. served as the Title Sponsors of the event. Mandy Emery, vice president of community involvement for IMCU and executive director of Indiana Members Foundation stated, “We had a great day at Valle Vista playing golf and raising money! We couldn’t continue our mission of helping children succeed in school without the amazing support and generosity of our sponsors, golfers and our IMCU volunteers! Thank you to all that made this outing a huge success!” The Indiana Department of Health will host a free bivalent COVID-19 booster clinic at 800 N. Indiana Ave. from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 27 and 28. The clinic will be open to the public, and no appointment or registration is necessary.
Both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines and boosters, as well as the flu vaccine, will be available at the clinic. COVID-19 testing will not be available. During this clinic, the bivalent booster will be available only for those 12 and older. The bivalent booster is authorized for anyone 5 and older, however. To find a bivalent booster vaccine site for kids 5 through 11, call 211. In general, health officials recommend getting this new booster if it’s been five or six months or more since your last booster or a COVID-19 infection. The Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County (CFBMC) has announced that 10 high school seniors have been selected as finalists for the 2023 Monroe County Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program. The finalists will be honored at the Community Foundation’s Annual Report to the Community on Tuesday, November 15.
