Organizations Partnering to Provide Free Mental Health Care and Physical Wellness Care to Local Cancer Patients
Beginning August 3, local oncology patients and their families will have increased access to a broad range of psychosocial services. Bloomington Health Foundation, Cancer Support Community Central Indiana, and IU Health South Central Region are coordinating efforts to provide free virtual programming for those impacted by cancer in Monroe County and surrounding communities.
Comcast is committed to keeping people connected during this difficult time. Here are some important updates they have made to those commitments and the resources that they are making available to continue to support their customers and our communities. The August/September issue of Bloom Magazine will be out on August 6, available at open businesses and mailed to thousands of homes. It features Heros of the Pandemic, inspiring stories about Bloomingtonians who've gone beyond the call of duty to help their fellow citizens.
We are now taking ads for the August/September issue, which includes both the Family Business and Holiday Giving Guide special advertising sections.
The construction season proceeds this summer, as current public health guidelines allow, bringing improvements to city streets and bicycle/pedestrian infrastructure, among other public works. City employees are continuing to practice (and work with contractors to implement) CDC protocols regarding physical distancing, face covering, hygiene, and disinfection of vehicles and equipment to protect workers engaged in these projects and prevent community transmission of COVID-19. Updates on several projects follow, with an opportunity for Bloomington homeowners leading this week’s list. Click "Read More" to see what updates are happening around Bloomington.

The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® - Bloomington will take place on Sept. 13, 2020.
The event, which attracts hundreds of participants to raise awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer’s disease, will look different this year. Instead of hosting a large gathering, the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Indiana Chapter is encouraging participants to walk as individuals or in small groups on sidewalks, tracks and trails across the Bloomington area.
On Walk day, an Opening Ceremony will feature local speakers and a presentation of Promise Flowers to honor the personal reasons participants join together to fight Alzheimer’s and all other dementia, all delivered to participants' smartphones, tablets and computers.
To register and receive the latest updates on this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s, visit: act.alz.org/bloomington.
