IU Health is excited to welcome accomplished healthcare and hospital administrator Denzil Ross as the new South Central Region President. “I am honored to join such a prestigious organization and be part of an amazing and dedicated team that’s doing such great things,” says Ross. “The organization's mission of making Indiana one of the healthiest states in the country is one I am fully aligned with, and I am excited to join in that journey in collaboration with this community.” Starting Monday, Feb. 19, Ross will lead strategic and operational avenues for IU Health Bloomington, IU Health Bedford Hospital, IU Health Morgan, IU Health Paoli Hospital and over 60 ambulatory clinics and joint ventures encompassing more than 5,000 team members in seven counties. “We are pleased to have a successful healthcare leader like Denzil leading the IU Health South Central Region,” says Brian Shockney, IU Health System Regional Operations Senior Vice President. “Denzil’s strong background in operations of new hospital facilities, improving access and quality of care across many services, and recognition for strong community engagement will ensure our Hoosiers continue to have a strong partner in continually improving access and excellence in healthcare.” Ross has served in a variety of healthcare environments over the past 15 years, with his most recent venture as a chief executive officer of a 145-bed facility he helped open during the COVID-19 pandemic. Ross utilized the LEAN methodology in this role to build out and implement service lines, physician recruitment and contracting.
Appointed an America’s Essential Hospital Fellow in 2013 and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the National Association of Health Services Executives, Ross knows the importance of working locally, nationally and at all levels in between to make a difference. Highly committed to diversity, equity and inclusion efforts that positively impact his teams and community, Ross’s work includes collaborating with community partners to combat food deserts in Kansas City, MO. “My wife and I are excited to join this community with our two daughters,” says Ross. “Southern Indiana is a beautiful place, and the kind welcome I’ve had is a true testament to the Hoosier hospitality I’ve heard so much about.”
