On Friday, June 5th, 2026, The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce held its Bloomington Women in Leadership Engage event, From Support to Stability, a service project day with New Hope for Families. New Hope for Families provides shelter and early learning programs to keep families together and lift every child into a promising future. On a given night, more than 160,000 US families are homeless. In most of the country, those families are separated, but Bloomington is different. Our community’s values dictate that no local family will sleep outside, live in a car, or be separated from one another in order to be safe. New Hope for Families is the embodiment of those values. Every day, we work to be sure that every child in our community has a safe place to sleep with their family. Participants helped NHFF make welcome baskets for their families moving into homes, reorganize their pantries, and help prepare for the Garden Walk on June 6th. See the photos from the event below! This year marked the third year for the Valor Awards, a distinguished ceremony brought to you by the Exchange Club of Northside Bloomington in partnership with the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce. The ceremony is dedicated to honoring the bravery and selflessness of our first responders. Set to spotlight these everyday heroes, the Valor Awards recognized one individual from each sector for their exemplary service. Learn more: whitepinelocal.com On Friday, May 8th, 2026, The Success School, the Chamber's Foundation, held it's Reality Store® at Tri-North Middle School. The Reality Store® is a simulation that helps junior high students appreciate the ‘realities’ of life and achieve a better understanding of personal finance. In the Reality Store® simulation, junior high students pretend they are a 28-year-old starting out in their life and career. Each school year, this program is held at four local middle schools, where close to 1000 students participate. Over 150 community members volunteered to run the tables at these events this year. Volunteering for a Reality Store® is a fun way to interact with students and teach them important lessons. See the photos from the event below! As a part of the Chamber's Foundation, The Success School acts as the connection between the business and the education communities. We serve students by introducing them to many different potential career options, providing them with opportunities to interact with professionals in different fields and helping them understand that graduating from high school is crucial for future success. We also serve the business community by offering meaningful volunteer opportunities for business professionals in our career learning programs which provide workforce development services for youth.
On Wednesday, May 6th, 2026, The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce's newest affinity group, Bloomington Rainbow Leadership Network, held its launch event, Unity at Work, at the International Art Project Foundation. There were 20-25 local organizations from all sectors that offered opportunities for current high school students.
