On Tuesday, August 19th, 2025, the Bloomington Women in Leadership (BWIL) group had an inspiring luncheon event, "Elevate Yourself Through Networking and Mentorship at Every Career Stage." This dynamic gathering featured engaging talks from two incredible speakers—a rising young professional, Danielle Willis and a seasoned leader, Peggy Welch—who shared their unique journeys and lessons learned through mentorship and connection. There was also an interactive bingo mixer—a fun and easy way to meet fellow attendees, expand the attendees network in a supportive and empowering environment! See photos from the event below! On Thursday, July 31st, The Chamber's Young Professionals Bloomington group had an evening of service, connection, and community impact! They partnered with Girls Inc. of Monroe County to support their mission of inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold—investing in the next generation of young leaders in our community. They were able to lend a hand assembling essential kits and supporting hands-on projects that directly benefit the girls served by Girls Inc. Afterwards, they had a post-service social at The Chocolate Moose—enjoying some sweet treats and connect with fellow YPs in a relaxed, fun setting. See photos from the event below! On July 22, 2025, the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce hosted "The Talent Bridge: Empowering Workforce Growth at Every Level." The attendees were able to join us for a practical, solutions-focused event designed for employers, educators, and workforce leaders. This half-day event explored effective strategies for engaging with schools, developing meaningful internship programs, and upskilling talent at every stage. Through interactive breakout sessions and a keynote presentation from Dr. Carolyn Goerner on leading multi-generational teams, attendees were able to walk away with actionable tools to strengthen their talent pipelines and improve team communication. On Thursday, July 10, 2025, The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce held it's 15th annual Women Excel Bloomington awards ceremony at One World at Woolery Mill. With almost 300 attendees, our six award winners were able to celebrate all that they have accomplished. The 2025 Women Excel Bloomington award winners are: Ann Harrison, Maggie Mobley, Sharr Pechac, Amanda Shettlesworth, Vicky Sorensen, and the Mae Cassady Lifetime Achievement recipient Gladys DeVane.
On Thursday, June 26th, 2025, The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce held its June Business After Hours & Chamber Member Appreciation Celebration at Sycamore Farm Bloomington. On Friday, June 13th, the Bloomington Women in Leadership group came together for our 2025 Engage service project supporting the incredible work being done at Pathways! Participants helped staff at Pathways complete much-needed deep-cleaning and organization projects, outdoor painting projects, outdoor landscaping and maintenance projects, and sound panel installation projects. Pathways empowers families to significantly improve their economic circumstances and break the cycle of poverty by providing a powerful combination of direct material assistance for the household, affordable & high-quality early learning for children ages 1-5 years old, and individualized economic mobility services that help caregivers increase wage-earning potential, facilitate emergency savings, and encourage investing in the future. Pathways’ Compass Early Learning Center currently supports 84 children and their families. They’ve welcomed us to help with meaningful hands-on projects around their campus—and they’ve also shared a wish list of much-needed supplies we can collect. Bloomington Women in Leadership ("BWIL") has four core pillars including Inspire, Engage, Elevate, and Empower. BWIL "Engage" events will partner with local non-profit organizations and give back to the community. These programs should focus on participants spending quality time engaging with and enhancing the community and learning about the partner organization who strives to improve the Bloomington community.
Bloomington Women in Leadership (BWIL), an affinity group of The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce, is a professional women's group that empowers, inspires, elevates, and engages through mentorships, professional development, and community.
