On Tuesday, November 15, 2022, The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce held it's bi-annual Community Conversations on Justice Reform at the Elk's Lodge. See the photos from the event below! On Monday, October 3, 2022, The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce and Young Professionals Bloomington held it's Elect Connect at the Mill. During this event, Chamber members and members of the community were able to have the opportunity to talk with local candidates on the ballot this upcoming November. This informal format made it possible for everyone to have more personal and in-depth conversations. See the photos from the event below! On Friday, June 3, 2022, The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce hosted it's first ever Community Conversations at the Golf Club at Eagle Pointe's Eagle's Nest. There was a short presentation by the watershed coordinator, Maggie Sullivan, followed by a panel discussion featuring perspectives on the importance of this resource from community leaders, environmental advocates, scientists, and more to discuss the challenges that may impact businesses, tourism, and sustainability. Attendees were able to come away with a new perspective on the lake's importance to our community and how you can improve its sustainability. The panel featured Alex Crowley (City of Bloomington), Vic Kelson (City Utilities), Jim Krause (Friends of Lake Monroe), Erin Kunkel, MSC (Cook Medical), Jane Martin (Water Fund), and Mike McAfee (Visit Bloomington). Cheryl Munson, Monroe County Council, At-Large Member, moderated the panel's Q&A. On Friday, January 14, 2022, The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Legislative Preview, a popular event for Chamber members and the public to meet with and hear from local legislators. Eric Spoonmore, President and CEO, introduced our legislators and moderated the Q&A portion. The audience was able to hear from Rep. Bob Heaton (District 46), Rep. Jeff Ellington (District 62), Rep. Peggy Mayfield (District 60), and Sen. Shelli Yoder (District 40). Sen. Eric Koch (District 44), Rep. Rep. Chris May (District 65), and Rep. Matt Pierce (District 61) could not attend this event. The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce welcomed US Senator Todd Young to Bloomington for a special presentation on Friday, October 22, at the Woolery Mill. This event included remarks from the Senator, and a moderated question and answer session with Dan Peterson, Vice President Industry and Government Affairs with Cook Group Incorporated. The Chamber’s Federal Focus event was created to allow dialogue and information sharing between the local business community and elected officials at the federal level. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear directly from the Senator on topics that impact the nation’s business climate, upcoming and recent legislative priorities, and updates from Congress. The Chamber was happy to welcome Indiana Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch to Bloomington on Monday, May 20. Ivy Tech Community College - Bloomington was the venue as nearly 200 Chamber and community members gathered to hear Lt. Governor Crouch address the topics of housing, Lake Monroe and infrastructure across the state. The Lt. Governor answered a few questions at the end of the event, touching on the 2019 Stellar Communities Program and workforce matters across the state.
