John Bethell Title Company,  an established real estate title and closing operation in Bloomington, Indiana, is excited to announce that one of its longtime team members, Kara Oltman, has become a partner in the company.
Oltman has been the company’s executive vice president since 2012. Owner John Bethell said he has long identified her as a potential partner and felt like now was the right time to make it a done deal.

“I’ve worked with Kara for 15 years and trust her as highly as anyone who I’ve ever worked with during my career,” Bethell said. “I’ve relied on Kara and her advice for a lot of years, but it’s nice to have this partnership official. She has talents that are different from mine, and I appreciate how we have complemented each other.”

Oltman said while she and Bethell sometimes approach things differently, they have always shared a similar vision for the culture of the company and its future. She thanked both the team members and customers she has worked with over the years.

“We want people to have the confidence that John Bethell Title will be here offering the same high-level experience we always have, no matter what the future holds,” she said. “Being a part of the JBT team and the Bloomington real estate community has given me the greatest professional experiences of my life. I get to work with some of the most dedicated, professional, fun, smart and compassionate people in the industry.”

While Bethell himself has no immediate plans to retire from the company he has owned for almost two decades, he did say the move was made with an eye on what’s to come for himself and his company. He wanted to provide customers, and other team members alike, continuity and security going forward.

“I fully intend to continue in this business for a long, long time, but it’s important to me to feel confident in the future of John Bethell Title, no matter what transition occurs later,” he said. “John Bethell Title will continue to be the premier organization our customers have come to rely on over the years.”

In the meantime, both parties said customers shouldn’t expect anything to change. The expert, friendly service the entire John Bethell Title team is known for will remain constant. In total, John Bethell Title employs about 30 people and was recently named as a Best Place to Work in the state by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.

“This company fosters lifelong learning, both personally and professionally. For a self-proclaimed nerd, it has been a dream come true,” Oltman said. “I love knowing I will keep encountering new situations and opportunities. Giving others the same growth potential is incredibly rewarding for me.”
