United Way of Monroe County is pleased to announce Randy Rogers as the new President & CEO of the organization. Efrat Feferman, who has been the Executive Director since 2017, announced in July that she will be stepping down at the end of the year. Rogers will succeed Feferman as the agency’s leader beginning October 31 and will spend time in the weeks following working closely with Feferman and the board to assure a smooth transition. Rogers recently returned to Bloomington after leading a large realtor association and charitable foundation in Arizona with a staff of 18 and a $7 million annual budget. In addition to his executive-level experience, his career locally included successful tenures as a fundraiser and relationship builder at universities and colleges including Indiana University, DePauw University, and Ivy Tech. He impressed the search committee and board throughout the search process with his experience, thoughtfulness, long-standing Bloomington connections, and enthusiasm for United Way and leading the community organization into the next chapter. “I am honored to join this team, along with the many volunteers and donors who are committed to addressing the needs in our community,” Rogers said. “United Way has been instrumental over the years in leading the way on many issues and I will ask everyone to partner with us as we continue that legacy.” Kirk White, United Way Board Chair, said, “During the search process, it became very clear that Randy is passionate about United Way and bringing people together to address the most pressing issues facing Bloomington and our region. He is an experienced executive who brings a career record of success. We’re confident that Randy will creatively engage donors, partners, and volunteers to ensure that our region is made stronger.”
Chris Pierce, Chair of the Search Committee, shared, “The search process for the next CEO & President was thorough and competitive. The Search Committee feels fortunate to have had so many talented candidates to consider for the position. Randy stood out to the Committee because of his executive-level experience, fundraising expertise, and passion to give back to our community. We are ecstatic that he will lead United Way into the future as the next CEO & President.” Feferman’s tenure saw the expansion of the organization’s impact in Monroe, Owen, and Greene counties through new partnerships and programming, as well as the deployment of three disaster response efforts. The most recent effort was the COVID-19 Relief Fund which raised and distributed over $2.4m to area nonprofits. United Way continues to lead the community in rebuilding post-pandemic, recently launching a targeted $4m initiative to make homelessness rare, brief, and non-repeating. “I am incredibly proud of everything the United Way team and community has accomplished in the past few years,” Efrat Feferman shared. “We strengthened the impact of United Way, responding to our community’s most pressing needs by mobilizing and convening conversations, advocacy, fundraising, and volunteer power. I am very optimistic about our community, knowing that United Way is working to rebuild post-pandemic and that so many people – agency partners, volunteers, donors, staff, board members, government officials, and more – are passionately involved in this work.” “Efrat has provided outstanding leadership over the past five years and navigated the pandemic to the benefit of the community and United Way partners,” shared Kirk White, Board Chair. “We wish her all success in future roles and look forward to partnering with her in her public service pursuits supporting our community.” The search, managed by Charitable Advisors, along with a committee comprised of board members and a partner agency representative engaged a diverse pool of candidates and stakeholders from across the region. The search included conversations with corporate and community partners, leadership volunteers, staff, and Indiana United Ways.
