DESCRIPTION: Monthly speaker series featuring an enlightening presentation and discussion of timely topics that directly or indirectly affect everyone in our area.
On Thursday, November 12, the topic, "On the Rise: Mental Health and Young Adults” will be explored. The presence of Indiana University, Ivy Tech Community College, and the promise of job opportunities in our community make it a destination for many young adults. Join us virtually to discuss how mental health is affecting this group of people, with a focus on the students who call our community home.
How does stress, anxiety, and depression impact their educations? How is this shaping the next generation of the workforce? What is our community doing to support students and other young adults struggling with these issues? Explore these questions with a panel moderated by Mark Fraley, associate director of the IU Political and Civil Engagement program, featuring representatives from Indiana University, Ivy Tech Community Colleges, and local mental health services.
Alongside friends, neighbors, nonprofits and community partners, learn more about issues that directly or indirectly affect everyone in our area. Attendees will have the opportunity to deepen their awareness about someone else’s reality while learning about the challenges, innovations, collaborations, resources available through area nonprofits, and how to get more involved in making a difference. Guests are invited to come with questions for the speakers or just listen and learn.
