May 16th: Author Event: Anna S. Mueller, 6:30 – 7:30 pm

Join us in the Morgenstern’s café for a discussion with Anna S. Mueller about her book, Life Under Pressure, and the topic of suicide prevention.

May 17th: Postmodern Jazz Quartet, 6:30 – 8:30 pm

This month, the Postmodern Jazz Quartet presents: Jazz Standards Salon!

May 18th: Saturday Storytime Special Guest: Kim Freeman, 10:00 – 11:00 am

Join us in the Morgenstern Books children’s department for Storytime Saturday with author Kim Freeman, readingher children’s book, Ice Cream Man, with a special surprise!

May 20th: Health + Wellness Book Club, 7:00 – 8:00 pm

A health and wellness book club that explores how we can improve our health and that of the Bloomington community at the same time, presented and hosted by Bridgett DiVohl and Cynthia Schultz, co-founders of the Bloomington Blue Zone Initiative. This month, they’ll be discussing Chapter 3 of The Blue Zones: 9 Lessons for Living Longer from the People Who’ve Lived the Longest.

May 21st: Author Event: Kyle Starks, 6:30 – 7:30 pm

Join us in the Morgenstern’s café for an eveing with Kyle Starks as he discusses his new young adult graphic novel, Karate Prom!

May 22nd: Sci-Fi & Fantasy Book Club, 7:00 – 8:00 pm

A science-fiction and fantasy book club hosted by Morgenstern’s resident sci-fi, fantasy, folklore, & mythology expert, Matthew! The read for May is Hummingbird Salamander by Jeff Vandermeer.

May 24th: Puzzle Night (Friday Nights at Morgenstern’s), 6:30 – 8:30 pm

Join us in the Morgenstern’s café for a relaxing night of puzzle solving with your friends!

May 25th: Family Night: Flowers! 6:00 – 7:00 pm

Join us for a flower-themed family night to learn about how flowers grow, read The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle, and get your own flower seeds to grow at home!
The first of our new Saturday night Family Nights, once a month!

May 26th: The Writers Guild Last Sunday Poetry Reading and Open Mic, 7:00 – 8:30 pm

Come to the Morgenstern’s café for the monthly Writers Guild poetry meeting and even sign up for the open mic! The featured readers for May are Jonathan S. Baker and Teresa Roy.

May 28th: Author Event: Shawn Cohen, 6:30 – 7:30 pm

Investigative journalist revisits the night Lauren Spierer vanished and exposes the dark secrets surrounding her disappearance in his new book, College Girl, Missing. Join us for a conversation about the book and his investigation in the Morgenstern’s café.

May 28th: Death Café, 7:00 – 9:00 pm

Eat cake. Drink tea. Talk about Death. A Death Café is a group-directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives, or themes. The Bloomington chapter is hosted by hospice chaplain and musician Rick Clayton and held at Morgenstern Books once a month.

May 29th: Author Event: Dr. Alex Kor with Graham Honaker, 6:30 – 7:30 pm

Join us for an evening in conversation with Dr. Alex Kor and Graham Honaker discussing their book, A Blessing, Not a Burden, about Dr. Kor’s parents’ fight for their lives during the Holocaust.

May 31st: Murder Mystery Night (Friday Nights at Morgenstern’s), 6:30 – 8:30 pm

Come to the Morgenstern’s café to test your detective skills with a night of solving cold cases with your friends! Sign-ups required.
