The Monroe County Community School Corporation is looking for local businesses to partner with them throughout the school year on various initiatives. Volunteer and partnership opportunities include: 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿: Virtual or in-person opportunity where students connect their learning to real-world problems or projects. As a partner, you may help introduce the unit with a project connected to your company or field of expertise. AVERAGE TIME COMMITMENT: 30 minutes-1 hour
𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀: Virtual or in-person opportunities for high school students to gain hands-on experience AVERAGE TIME COMMITMENT: 1 semester/trimester 𝗠𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝘀: Middle or high school students would gain professional interviewing experience and learn how to interact with professionals. AVERAGE TIME COMMITMENT: 1 hour to 5 hours (could be spread over several days) 𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗱𝗼𝘄: Middle or high school students would shadow an employee for a day, or part of a day, in order to see what the day to day tasks of specific jobs entail. AVERAGE TIME COMMITMENT: 1 day 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘆: Volunteers will share information about their career to different groups of students. AVERAGE TIME COMMITMENT: 1 hour to 1 day 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹: Representatives from various careers will tell about their experiences and answer questions from students. AVERAGE TIME COMMITMENT: 1 hour 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿: Students will visit several tables to learn about various careers. Companies can have actual job openings, or not. AVERAGE TIME COMMITMENT: 1 day 𝗚𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿: Share information about your career, what you do each day, what preparation was needed for that job (ex. college, training, etc.) AVERAGE TIME COMMITMENT: 30 minutes to 1 hour 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗠/𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗠 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀-𝗢𝗻 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: Lead students in hands-on science, technology, engineering, art, and math activities. These could take place during the school day or at after school events such as STEAM Nights, Girls in Engineering, Math, and Science (GEMS) event, etc. AVERAGE TIME COMMITMENT: 1-4 hours 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽: Lead lessons or mentor students as they create new products in entrepreneurship courses. AVERAGE TIME COMMITMENT: 1 hour; Mentors would volunteer approximately 1 hour a week 𝗧𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴: Volunteers will meet with students, virtually or in person, to assist with school work. AVERAGE TIME COMMITMENT: 30 min. to 1 hour per week 𝗔𝗱𝘂𝗹𝘁/𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽𝘀: Lead workshops for parents on topics such as parenting, financial aid, preparing children to live independently at college, etc. AVERAGE TIME COMMITMENT: 1-3 hours 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀: Lead interactive workshops for students on specific skills and topics not often covered in traditional school curriculum. AVERAGE TIME COMMITMENT: 1-4 hours 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀: Lead lunch & learn sessions for teachers to learn more about the real world application of the skills they teach in class. AVERAGE TIME COMMITMENT: 1-3 hours 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘀/𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀: Host virtual or in-person groups of students to experience a real-world work environment. AVERAGE TIME COMMITMENT: 1-4 hours
