Explore Greene County in a New WTIU Documentary: Spirit of Greene County Premieres August 16 at 8 p.m.

​A new documentary from WTIU Public Television explores the natural beauty, small-town hospitality, and beloved traditions of one tightly-knit Indiana community. Spirit of Greene County premieres Monday, August 16 at 8 p.m. on WTIU and simultaneously streams on Facebook Live.
 
The program covers the wealth of outdoor activities available in Greene County at Goose Pond Fish & Wildlife Area, Greene-Sullivan State Forest, Redbird State Recreation Area, and Shakamak State Park. Spirit of Greene County also highlights the Sculpture Trail Outdoor Museum—one of America’s largest—and the artists who reside there.

The documentary visits some of Greene County’s most famous landmarks, such as the historic Yoho General Store, a fixture in Greene County since 1934, renovated and restored in 2012. One-of-a-kind feats of engineering are uncovered at the Tulip Trestle, as well as Greene County’s colorful history with the railroads.
 
The unique entertainment offerings in Greene County are also showcased in the film, including the Shawnee Theatre, Wagler Motorsports Park, and the famous Linton Freedom Festival—Indiana’s largest Independence Day parade.
  
Finally, Spirit of Greene County introduces viewers to the new generation of farmers, food growers, and craft brewers that champion the region’s locally-grown produce.
