A fun-filled classroom adventure where the audience gets to make all the decisions!

This spring, Constellation is bringing the world premiere of a brand-new children’s show to Bloomington, IN. Alex Gold: Stuck on Repeat is a one-of-a-kind classroom comedy that blends improv and audience interaction, teaching children that every day is an opportunity for reinvention! The show is running April 26 - May 12 at the Waldron Auditorium in downtown Bloomington.

Alex Gold: Stuck on Repeat was commissioned by Constellation Stage & Screen as a fun and educational way to highlight social-emotional learning for students of all ages. Inspired by Choose Your Own Adventure books, the show follows 11-year-old Alex Gold, who is stuck repeating the 6th grade. Maybe he shouldn’t have spent so much time watching superhero movies, playing adventure games, and drifting off into his own action-packed daydreams. Luckily, Alex has surrounded himself with some trusted friends (you, the audience!) to help him make the best choices to succeed! Can you successfully guide Alex through this hilarious new show where every single performance offers different twists and turns?
To make the show accessible to all families, Constellation is offering a sensory-friendly performance on Sunday, Mary 12 at 4:00pm. This special performance is designed to create a theater experience that is welcoming to all families with children with autism or other sensory sensitivities. In addition to lighting, sound, and seating modifications, Constellation’s Sensory Friendly Performances are Pay What You Will, allowing audiences to choose their own ticket price. To learn more about Constellation’s sensory friendly programing, visit our website. Constellation is also proud to offer four subsidized, student matinees for this show, allowing students from area schools to attend during the school day. Learn more about our student matinee program, supported by Constellation’s IUCU Education Initiative, here.

“Alex Gold will provide a fun-filled interactive experience that shows kids all the benefits of live performance,” says Artistic Director, Chad Rabinovitz.

“Think of it like a Children’s Show/Madlibs/Improv/Choose-Your-Adventure Sandwich!”

The show brings together a talented group of local performers. Making their Constellation debuts are Jo Moran, an IU Theater alumni starring as Alex Gold, and Carolynn Stouder, a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy and Indiana University. Constellation is also excited to welcome back a number of performers, including Paul Daily (Rx, Apropos of Nothing), Kenny Hertling (Anne of Green Gables), Sophia Hoffman (Curious George The Golden Meatball), and Tucker Ransom, (Curious George The Golden Meatball and Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! The Musical!).

Written by Sarah Ziegler Blair and Kellen Blair (Just Between the All of Us), Alex Gold: Stuck on Repeat is directed by Jack McCarthy, who previously directed The Oregon Trail at the Bloomington Playwrights Project. Joining the creative team are Scenic Designer Seth Howard, Lighting Designer Aaron Bowersox, Costume Designer Becky Underwood, Sound Designer David Sheehan, Stage Manager Mitchell Ward, Props Manager Aubrey Krueger, and Props Artisan Barb Steininger.

Alex Gold: Stuck on Repeat will be performing April 26 - May 12 at the Waldron Arts Center and tickets are on sale now! Tickets start at $25 for adults and $15 for children and are available through Constellation’s website (seeconstellation.org), over the phone at (812) 336-9300 (Mon-Fri 12-5pm), or in-person at 122 S Walnut St (open Wed-Fri 12-5pm).
