Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Indiana (BBBSSCI) is proud to announce that the Big Brothers Big Sisters Nationwide Leadership Council recognized BBBSSCI with a 2019 Big Brothers Big Sisters of America Quality Award. BBBSSCI is in its 47th year of serving its community’s children. “I am so proud of our staff and board for making quality programming a priority for our local children,” said Danell Witmer, Executive Director of BBBSSCI “Their hard work equates to more mentorship in both Monroe and Owen Counties and a brighter future for area youth.”
In the past year, BBBSSCI has served 260 children by connecting them with supportive adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and supporting those mentoring relationships. The Quality Award recognizes Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Indiana for its excellent community programming. Throughout the year, BBBSSCI has served children in our Community and Site-based Programs, along with our Big Buddies program. In addition, BBBSSCI implemented a Bigs with Badges program which matches first responders with youth in our community. “Each match between a Big and Little takes care and attention, and this Quality Award shows that Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Indiana has done an outstanding job serving children in its community,” said Pam Lorio, president and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Out of nearly 250 Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies, Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Indiana is one of 26 that will be recognized as Quality Award Winners at the 2020 Big Brothers Big Sisters Virtual National Conference.
