Thursday, June 15 – Makaya McCraven with Funk Almighty. Born in Paris and now living in Chicago, Makaya McCraven is a prolific drummer, composer, and producer. His music gets labeled as jazz, but it’s much more. Thursday, July 20 – Shannon & The Clams with Say She She and Abby Jeanne. Easy Eye Sound recording artists Shannon & The Clams bring their unique blend of indie rock, R&B, punk, and surf from Oakland, CA. Brooklyn-based female-led Say She She opens the show along with rock artist Abby Jeanne. Thursday, August 24 – Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway with Henhouse Prowlers. Fresh off her Grammy win for best bluegrass album, Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway will be touring this summer in support of their new record, City Of Gold. Chicago-based bluegrass greats Henhouse Prowlers open the show.
Admission for all shows is free, there will be food trucks and a beer garden, and all of these shows start at 6:00 PM ET. The Switchyard Park is located at 1601 S. Rogers St. in Bloomington, Indiana. “Bloomington is an underrated music town and destination, and the Switchyard Park is an incredible outdoor venue. All are welcome at these free concerts. We invite you, your family and friends, wherever you are from, to join us for these fun summer music events,” said Mike McAfee from Visit Bloomington. Bloomington Parks & Recreation Administrator Paul McDevitt said, “We are tremendously excited and proud to partner with Visit Bloomington to bring these renowned performers to Switchyard Park this summer, and to be able to introduce the park to music lovers across the Midwest.” These Thursday shows are brought to you by Visit Bloomington, Bloomington Parks & Recreation, Indiana University Arts & Humanities Council, the Orbit Room, and All-American Storage. Each Thursday concert is followed by a Friday night concert also at Switchyard Park, and part of Bloomington Parks & Recreation's Performing Art Series. See website for lineups and more information.
