LIFEDesigns CEO Russell J. Bonanno MEd is receiving Executive Leadership award at INARF Conference10/7/2021 CEO of LIFEDesigns, Russell J. Bonanno, has been selected to be the recipient of the INARF 2021 James M. Hammond III Executive Leadership Award. INARF plans to honor and pay special tribute to Russell (and Max his service animal) at the 2021 INARF Annual Conference Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, October 6th, Noon – 1:30 PM at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Noblesville Indianapolis Conference Center, 13700 Conference Center Dr. South Noblesville, IN. Before the Annual Conference Awards Luncheon takes place, INARF asks their agency members to submit nominations for the awards given out. It was fairly easy for LIFEDesigns employees to compose this nomination and the endless reasons why Russell deserves this award. The nomination that was submitted on Russell’s behalf is below and perfectly explains why he is so deserving of the 2021 James M. Hammond III Executive Leadership Award: “Whether he is giving the keynote address at the “Targeting Autism National Forum”, teaching at Boston University Medical School, advocating for greater access to resources or inclusion in the community for individuals with Autism/IDD, or weighing in on the ethical implications about the use of video cameras in clients’ homes and whether they are really necessary, Russ Bonanno works tirelessly to enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities, their families, and their communities.

Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington’s Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program was recently ranked #3 in the state out of all other associate degree programs, by Nursing Schools Almanac.
For the 2011-2021 calendar years 90.3 percent of nursing students passed the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX) test on the first try. The average number of ASN students graduating annually is 72. The U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates Registered Nurses in Indiana make an average annual salary of $66,460 per year ($32.45 per hour) as of May 2020. Students in Ivy Tech Bloomington’s nursing program learn in high-fidelity simulation labs, as well as care for patients in a variety of clinical settings. Once admitted to the program, an Associate of Science in Nursing degree (RN) can be achieved in less than two years, and prepares graduates to qualify for work in the field. The nursing program at Ivy Tech is a highly-competitive, selective admission program. There is a separate application process, after completing prerequisite course requirements. Flu season is upon us! According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), influenza activity often begins to increase in October, peaks between December and February, and can linger into May.1 At a time when COVID-19 is still the dominant infectious disease concern, cleaning and bioremediation specialist Ryan Wolfe of SERVPRO® of Lawrence, Owen, Greene & Martin Cos. reminds local residents that it is important this time of year to take steps to protect yourself and your family from influenza and other seasonal viral infections like Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), which can be especially serious for children and older adults. Breathing in virus-laden droplets from an infected person's cough, sneeze, or speech from as far away as six feet is believed to be the prime means of virus transmission.2 Experts agree it is possible to become infected by touching a contaminated surface or object and then touching your mouth, nose, or even eyes. The good news, says Wolfe, is that many viruses – including the flu, COVID, and RSV viruses – are easy to kill outside the body using soap and warm water, commercial disinfectants, and hand sanitizers that contain alcohol. As a leading provider of disaster clean-up and remediation services, SERVPRO professionals specialize in this type of surface cleaning and disinfection. Today Dimension Mill, Bloomington’s nonprofit center for entrepreneurship and coworking, announced that it was awarded a $399,650 Build to Scale grant from the US Economic Development Administration (EDA). The grant will allow The Mill to grow its existing investment fund for early stage startups, Flywheel Fund, and create a second fund called Turbine. “It’s no secret that wages in our community lag the national and state averages,” said Executive Director Pat East. “In part, that’s because Indiana ranks 41st in employment in high-paying tech sector jobs. To get those jobs, we need more tech companies, and tech startups need risk capital to grow quickly. We’ve made great progress in the last few years in building our startup ecosystem. This grant from the EDA will allow The Mill to accelerate our successful work to cultivate the next generation of angel investors, fuel innovative new companies, and grow our regional economy.” The Build to Scale program aims to accelerate technology entrepreneurship by increasing inclusive access to business support and startup capital. Fifty organizations across 26 states received grants totaling $36.5 million. The Mill is one of two Indiana organizations to receive funds under the program’s Capital Challenge grant, which provides operational support for early-stage investment funds. |
