Legislative Update 2019: How They Voted

​The Indiana General Assembly wrapped up its 2019 budget session in April. We followed several bills of interest to Chamber members. Check out our State Legislative Update page for details about how our local legislators voted on key bills.

The Legislature is not in session, but you can still reach the state legislators who represent Bloomington and Monroe County. Here's their contact information:

Sen. Mark Stoops (D-District 40)

District 40 covers most of Monroe County, with the exception of a southern portion that's represented by District 44. Mark Stoops was first elected to the Senate in 2012. ​

Sen. Eric Koch (R-District 44)

District 44 covers the southern portion of Monroe County, as well as Brown County, Lawrence County, and parts of Jackson and Bartholomew counties. Eric Koch was a state Representative from 2002-2016, when he was elected to the Senate.

​District 61 primarily covers the city of Bloomington. Matt Pierce was first elected to the House in 2002. 


Rep. Jeff Ellington (R-District 62)

District 62 covers a portion of Monroe County, including some of Bloomington, and most of Greene County. It also includes parts of Martin and Daviess counties. Jeff Ellington was initially appointed to the House in 2015, and was elected to office in 2016. ​

District 60 covers portions of Monroe and Morgan counties, including Martinsville. Peggy Mayfield was first elected to the House in 2012.

District 65 includes all of Brown County, most of Lawrence County, part of southwest Monroe County, and portions of Jackson and Johnson counties. Chris May was first elected to the House in 2016.
