Kaytee Lorentzen, Owner of Kaytee Lorentzen Photography
• Tell us about your job and your responsibilities.
I own and operate my own photography business so I do a little bit of everything and wear many hats; whether that be from marketing to accounting to taking the photographs and editing them. My job is to make memories that last a lifetime and help my clients capture those moments and display them throughout their homes. Photographs are something that freezes a moment in a lifetime that may fade away in our memories. Photographs help make them stay in our life even after we are gone. My job is to capture those precious memories and display them beautifully in a home.
• What is your favorite part about being a small business owner?
My favorite part of being a business owner is being able to do the things I want, the way I want. If I want to try a new concept, I am more than welcome to. I get to write my own story and that is what is amazing to me.
• How long have you lived in Bloomington and what brought you here?
I have lived in Bloomington for a year and a half now. I originally came to Bloomington for my higher education, and then I transferred to Ball State to complete my degree in Photojournalism. After graduation, I came back to Bloomington because I loved being a part of this city.
• What is one word you would use to describe Bloomington?
Home. I felt this word is the best way to describe Bloomington to me. This place has made it so much of a home to me and it has made me very happy to become a resident. I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.
• What is your favorite Bloomington tradition?
I haven’t been in Bloomington too long to really do anything tradition-like, but I love just going to Lake Monroe during the summer and having a great time out there. I love having the lake so close to home.
• Where can you be found on the weekends and spare time?
The weekends actually consist more of my time I am working on my photography business since that is when most of my clients are not working. However, when I have free time, I am rarely still. I am either finding ways to work on my business and help it grow, at the gym, cooking, watching the Food Network or HGTV, watching my favorite television show: Game of Thrones, or taking photographs for fun.
