Hi! My name is: Lauren Dexter
I work at: Bloomington Health Foundation My job title is: Director of Marketing & Events What this really means: is that I spend my day doing: All kinds of fun stuff! When I’m not coordinating a donor event or working on Hoosiers Outrun Cancer with our amazing volunteer committee, I’m strategizing and executing BHF’s marketing and communications efforts. The best part of my job is: Working with our incredible staff and board to help solve local health problems and create a stronger, more vibrant community. I have lived in Bloomington since: I was an IU undergrad for my first four years here, 2006-2010. I moved back to my hometown of Indy for a little over a year and came back to Bloomington in April 2012. I’ve been here ever since! How did you land in Bloomington and what has kept you here? I re-landed here in 2012 when I was hired as the Event Coordinator for the Monroe Convention Center. A few things have kept me here since then: 1) YPB (then-hYPe) – I’ve been fortunate to be involved with YPB for seven years, the past three as the Chair. I’m currently finishing my last couple months with the group and I cannot begin to express my gratitude for our program and the personal and professional growth it has given me. I’ve met some of my closest friends because of YPB—I’ll miss it! 2) My fiancé. 3) Bloomington is awesome. The coolest new thing (or new to me) in town is: The Dimension Mill is such a great resource for our city—they host all kinds of community events in addition to their co-working space. My favorite restaurant/local shop in Bloomington is: Cardinal Spirits, The Uptown, C3, Taste of India, and Scenic View. It’s too hard to pick just one. On the weekends you’ll find me: Out with my crew kayaking on Lake Monroe or hiking with our dogs, Cooper and Rufus. The best donuts in town are from: Crescent! I can’t get enough of ______, on Netflix/Hulu/Prime. Let’s be honest, I’m almost always rewatching The Office. I did just finish watching Six Feet Under though—best series finale ever. The thing I’m most excited for this year is: getting married! My pre-husband Alex and I are excited to have our friends and family come to Bloomington this fall for our festivities.
