Hi! My name is: Jackie Stelmaszczyk
I work at: Indiana University
My job title is: Assistant Director of Student Conduct
How would you describe what you do professionally?
I work in the Division of Student Affairs at IU to support students outside of the classroom. In my day-to-day, I meet with students who are alleged to have violated campus policy and discuss accountability measures. I help refer them to resources on campus and in the community in order to intervene in policy violations and keep campus safe.
What is your favorite part of your job?
I get to interact with the sorority and fraternity community often and discuss the values of our organizations and of IU. As a sorority member myself, I am passionate about the Fraternity/Sorority experience! I am proud of the good things the community does for IU and Bloomington (and the larger community) and work to make sure all of our decisions reflect those values.
What are some goals or aspirations you have for this upcoming year (professionally and personally)?
I started being more dedicated to my personal fitness this year and have become a dedicated member of the Ethos Cycling community. I am getting back into shape as a 30-something and am hoping to increase my upper body strength (which is currently none lol)
How many years have you lived in Bloomington?
How long have you been a member of YPB?
Just joined in August 2020!
What lead you to Bloomington and what has kept you here?
I moved here for my job at IU. It, and the wonderful friends I've made, have kept me here. I love how welcoming Bloomington is!
What is the coolest/most interesting thing about Bloomington in your opinion?
I love that while most people view Bloomington as a college town, it has its own personality outside of that. I consider myself a local now and fully embrace the local-businesses and local-lifestyle.
What is your favorite local restaurant/shop in Bloomington?
What is a favorite hobby of yours?
I play kickball with the Bloomington Adult Sports Club for most of the year and have met my non-work friends through it. I love it so much!
