On Tuesday, February 10th, 2026, Bloomington Women in Leadership (BWIL) hosted Inspired by Love, a heartfelt and inspiring luncheon focused on compassion, community, and empowerment at Ivy Tech's Shreve Hall. This event featured Sandy Keller, Director of My Sister’s Closet of Monroe County, as she shared the story behind this impactful local nonprofit and its mission to help women build confidence and financial independence through professional clothing and support services. With a fireside chat let by Cassy Caswell, Sandy discussed the organization’s origins, the services it provides, and the powerful impact it has had on women in our community. This BWIL Inspire event embodied the group’s mission to Inspire, Engage, Elevate, and Empower women at every stage of their careers. See photos from the event below! Here is a recap!Throughout the discussion, attendees gained deeper insight into the often-unseen barriers many women face when working toward financial independence. While professional clothing may appear to be a simple resource, Sandy Keller highlighted how presentation, confidence, and self-perception frequently influence hiring decisions, workplace integration, and long-term stability. A key theme of the conversation centered on dignity and narrative-building. Beyond attire, women navigating career transitions often need encouragement, coaching, and practical support to rebuild confidence and reframe how they see themselves in professional environments. The discussion reinforced that empowerment is rarely about a single service, but rather a combination of resources, relationships, and consistent follow-up. Attendees also learned how My Sister’s Closet has evolved into a more holistic support organization. From financial wellness partnerships to workforce readiness coaching and innovative initiatives like e-commerce training, the organization continues expanding its impact while creating sustainable pathways for both funding and skill development. Finally, the conversation underscored the importance of compassion-driven leadership and community collaboration. Meaningful change happens when organizations, employers, and community partners recognize the layered challenges individuals may face and work collectively to remove obstacles to opportunity.
