Awards span regional Emmys, including multiple honors for Major Taylor: Champion of the Race, and national PMJA recognition for impactful journalism WFIU Public Radio and WTIU Public Television have recently earned significant recognition for their outstanding journalism and content, including awards from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) — Central Great Lakes Chapter, and the Public Media Journalists Association (PMJA). These accolades highlight the stations' commitment to excellence in public media. Former General Manager of WTIU Public Television and WFIU Public Radio, Perry Metz, was inducted into the NATAS Central Great Lakes Chapter Silver Circle, honoring his significant contributions to television for over twenty-five years. Metz's leadership from 2003 until his retirement in 2019 was instrumental in growing the local and state news operations for public broadcasters in Indiana, leading to WFIU/WTIU becoming home to the largest public newsroom in the state. Public Media Journalists Association (PMJA) Awards: WFIU-FM was honored with two Second Place awards in the 2025 PMJA Awards for work completed in 2024:
