Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington welcomes Skylar Whiteman, Executive Director of the Orange County Economic Development Partnership (OCEDP), to the Campus Board of Trustees. The Ivy Tech State Board of Trustees passed a resolution appointing Whiteman to the campus board, effective July 1, 2024.

Trustee Whiteman replaces Orange County resident, Imojean Dedrick, who recently retired from her position as Executive Director of the Orange County Community Foundation and served as a campus trustee for 6 years.

“Skylar’s experience leading the OCEDP brings new and valuable insights into growth opportunities for Ivy Tech Bloomington in serving residents and businesses in the region,” Erik Coyne, Chancellor, Ivy Tech Bloomington, said. “With her local connections and passion for community empowerment, Skylar’s work directly aligns with the College’s mission and values. We look forward to working together to grow our regional economy.”

Whiteman has served as OCEDP executive director for the past year. Prior to leading the OCEDP, she worked as a licensed Health Facility Administrator in senior living communities throughout Southern Indiana for nine years. Her teams were recognized for quality, regulatory, and financial successes at the local, state, and national level.

“I am excited to join the Ivy Tech Bloomington Board of Trustees as a representative of Orange County, and am passionate about elevating our region,” Whiteman said. “I look forward to collaborating with Chancellor Erik Coyne, Board Chair Connie Ferguson, other board members, and campus leadership to continue to strengthen our relationships with local businesses, leaders, and residents to grow our community.”

Ivy Tech Bloomington has an eight-county service area, including Brown, Greene, Lawrence, Martin, Monroe, Morgan, Orange, and Owen Counties. The campus serves more than 11,500 students annually.

Whiteman will join the Campus Board of Trustees for her first meeting at Ivy Tech Bloomington on Tuesday, July 16.
