11/19/2024

The Bloomington‐Monroe County Metropolitan Planning Organization (BMCMPO) invites the public to share their input on local transportation projects as part of the 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP). The MTP will guide improvements to roads, bike paths, public transit, and other transportation systems across Bloomington, Ellettsville, and urbanized Monroe County for the next 25 years.

A hybrid public meeting will be held on Thursday, December 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Bloomington City Hall Council Chambers and online via Zoom. Participants can view the proposed list of transportation projects, ask questions, and share feedback to help shape the region's future transportation investments.

The development of the new MTP requires public involvement, including public review by the BMCMPO Citizens Advisory Committee, the Technical Advisory Committee, and adoption by the Policy Committee before submission to state and federal agencies for final approval. Meeting attendees will help shape long-term transportation investments for the region by providing feedback on the proposed list of MTP projects.

The draft plan will be available for public review from December 5, 2024 to January 6, 2025, both online at bloomington.in.gov/mpo/metropolitan-transportation-plan and in printed form at the Bloomington Planning and Transportation Department, 401 N. Morton St., Ste. 130.

During this review period, the public is encouraged to submit comments by:
  • Filling out a comment form at the meeting
  • Emailing [email protected]
  • Mailing written comments to BMCMPO, P.O. Box 100, Bloomington, IN 47402

Public comments will be reviewed and shared with BMCMPO committees as they consider the final adoption of the MTP. The Technical Advisory and Citizens Advisory Committees will meet on January 22, 2025, and the Policy Committee will vote on adoption on February 14, 2025.

For more details or to provide input, visit the BMCMPO website or contact the MPO at [email protected].
