‘Journey Indiana: Underground’ premieres Thursday, March 6 at 8 p.m. on WTIUA new documentary special from WTIU Public Television’s travel series Journey Indiana presents a view from below the surface of the Hoosier state that not many will experience in person. Journey Indiana: Underground premieres Thursday, March 6 at 8 p.m. ET on WTIU and will also be available to stream for free on the PBS app. The program takes viewers on underground adventures to explore some of southern Indiana’s 4,000 caves. The documentary tours America’s longest navigable underground river at Bluespring Caverns, Monument Mountain inside Big Wyandotte Cave in Harrison County, and Indiana Caverns—the state’s newest show cave. In addition to showcasing the caves, the program visits the 71st annual Cave Capers in Lawrence County and introduces viewers to a group of caving enthusiasts. Journey Indiana: Underground also details how biologists, property managers, and cavers are working together to protect vulnerable species.
