New WFIU program highlights the voice department at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music11/5/2024 ‘Jacobs Legacy: Voice’ airs Saturday, November 9 at 5 p.m. on WFIU2 and Sunday, November 10 at 6 p.m. on WFIU.This month, a new episode premieres as part of the IUMusicArchive series—WFIU’s continuing collaboration with the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music to broadcast recordings of music performances from their extensive archives. Jacobs Legacy: Voice airs Saturday, November 9 at 5 p.m. on WFIU2 and Sunday, November 10 at 6 p.m. on WFIU.
Jacobs Legacy is a subseries of IUMusicArchive that explores the depth and reach of training at the IU Jacobs School of Music. In the first installment of the subseries, Jacobs Legacy: Voice focuses on the voice department, which has produced numerous singers that have gone on to lead prolific careers and perform on the most prestigious stages in the world. Hosted by Sylvia McNair, Jacobs Legacy: Voice features recordings from McNair’s time as a student at Indiana University, as well as Angela Brown, Lawrence Brownlee, and more. Support for Jacobs Legacy: Voice is made possible by the Wennerstrom-Phillips Fund for Classical Music, established by Mary Wennerstrom, professor and associate dean emerita at the IU Jacobs School of Music.
