Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington will host its annual Commencement Ceremony Friday, May 2 at 6 p.m. at the Indiana University Auditorium, where it will celebrate the Class of 2025. Approximately 1,431 graduates have earned 1,850 associate degrees and certificates.

“Over 80% of Ivy Tech graduates choose to stay in our communities, filling in-demand roles that make a difference,” said Chancellor Erik Coyne. “They’re your HVAC technicians, nurses, teachers, and so much more—all helping to make the Bloomington region a great place to live and work. We are proud to call them alumni and look forward to celebrating their accomplishments.”
Britney Khan, co-president of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and informatics graduate, will give the commencement address. Khan is graduating with magna cum laude honors and was named outstanding student in her program of study. She will speak to her experience as a first-generation student who had just moved to the United States, and how Ivy Tech is the bridge to what comes next.

“Ivy Tech represents more than a college—it represents possibility,” Khan said. “It gave me a beginning where I could not only earn credits but ultimately set myself up for long-term success.”

Khan will transfer to a four-year university this fall to earn her bachelor’s degree in international studies. In the future, her goal is to pursue a career in humanitarian work, with dreams of working for the United Nations.

By the Numbers
Ivy Tech Bloomington is conferring 547 transfer degrees and certificates to graduates, 30% of all credentials awarded. Ivy Tech has transfer agreements with more than 100 in- and out-of-state schools, including guaranteed admission programs to Indiana University. Ivy Tech Bloomington has five guaranteed admission programs to IU, including Biology, Criminal Justice, Elementary Education, Informatics, and Psychology.

The campus anticipates 453 Early College students earning 490 credentials with Early College programming while in high school. Early College graduates earn an Associate of General Studies, Indiana College Core technical certificate, or certificate. Eleven students are on track to earn a full associate degree before high school graduation, from Bloomfield and Mitchell high schools.

Early college graduates are from the Academy of Science & Entrepreneurship, Bedford-North Lawrence, Bloomfield, Bloomington Graduation School, Bloomington North, Bloomington South, Brown County, Eastern Greene, Edgewood, Hoosier Hills Career Center, Loogootee, Lost River Career Center, Martinsville, Mitchell, Mooresville, North Lawrence Career Center, Orleans, Owen Valley, Paoli, Springs Valley, West Washington and White River Valley.

A total of 107 Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN/RN) degrees and 56 Practical Nursing (LPN) certificates will be awarded.

The campus is conferring 36 associate degrees and certificates to 28 Achieve Your Degree™ (AYD) graduates. AYD is an employer-paid tuition assistance program that provides the chance for students to earn college credentials with no upfront costs. Locally, Ivy Tech has agreements with 20 employers.

Associate Accelerated Program (ASAP) students will earn 38 associate degrees and certificates among 21 graduates. ASAP allows students ages 21 and under to earn an associate degree in less than a year.
