IU Black History Month Events 2026

Community Commemorations: Open Mic + Mixed Media Gallery

Girls Rock Bloomington in partnership with the Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center will host its Annual Black History Month Open Mic. Themed “Community Commemorations”, this year’s event will celebrate both performance and visual art. It will feature a multi-media gallery of local black history and experiences, open mic performances, a special performance from Lucky Seven, and a guest speaker, Dr. Gladys DeVane, founder of Resilience Productions.

Join us in cheering on the IU women’s basketball team as they take on Oregon! Wear your favorite NMBCC or Black pride apparel and join us in section 10 near the band! Student tickets are free when you show your crimson card. Faculty and staff can retrieve 2 complimentary tickets by visiting one.iu.edu and inserting “Faculty and Staff Complimentary Tickets” in the search box. General admission tickets are $12 for adults, and tickets for youth ages 3-18 are $5.
