First evening cohort of 19 nurses graduates from Ivy Tech Bloomington

The Bloomington campus launched Ivy Tech’s first evening nursing program for healthcare professionals who want to become registered nurses

​Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington has graduated its first cohort of 19 nurses who completed the new evening Transition to ASN (RN) cohort, all on time. The innovative evening nursing training option launched in fall 2025 and was the first of its kind to be offered at Ivy Tech statewide.
 
“This represents 19 new registered nurses for Indiana, above and beyond the students we normally train,” said Chancellor Erik Coyne, Ivy Tech Bloomington. “It also represents a real game changer for working professionals, their families, and our regional healthcare partners.”

Ivy Tech Bloomington began offering evening nursing classes to expand its capacity to train more nurses and meet the workforce demand, while also meeting student scheduling needs. The campus currently admits 205 nursing students annually and graduated approximately 155 nurses this past May.
 
The Transition to ASN program is for licensed practical nurse, paramedic, military medic, and medical assistant (CMA-AAMA) professionals who want to advance to the registered nurse level. The program can be completed in under one year.
 
The Indianapolis campus is launching an evening Transition to ASN cohort in August 2026. The campus has 10 students enrolled and will look to expand to 20 in 2027.
