Constellation Stage & Screen, a Bloomington-based professional theater company, is thrilled to announce it has been awarded a $20,000 grant from the Allen Whitehill Clowes Charitable Foundation (AWCCF). This grant will support general operations for Constellation’s upcoming 26/27 Season, its 5th season as a company.
“We’re thrilled to be working with the AWCCF for the first time this coming season,” says Gabe Gloden, Managing Director of Constellation. “We anticipate this is the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship as both organizations are in alignment on our commitment to grow our thriving Central Indiana arts community.” Based in Indianapolis, the Allen Whitehill Clowes Charitable Foundation was incorporated in 1990, to maintain the legacy of Allen Whitehill Clowes (1917–2000), a local philanthropist, civic leader, arts patron, and foundation/business executive. The primary mission of the foundation is to support charitable organizations that promote or preserve the Arts and Humanities and those that were supported by Mr. Clowes during his life or are similar to those supported by Mr. Clowes. While the foundation’s giving is focused primarily in Marion County, Constellation has become one of the few non-Marion County organizations to receive their support, an acknowledgment that the health of Bloomington’s arts economy directly impacts the greater Indianapolis region. Constellation is proud to be joining other prominent arts and culture leaders, like the Indiana Repertory Theatre, Phoenix Theatre, Naptown African American Theatre Collective, and Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art as recent recipients.
