Constellation is thrilled to launch enrollment for a robust array of summer camps in theater, comedy, film, and musical theater. In addition to the return of many popular camps, including Broadway Bootcamps and Movie Camps, Constellation is introducing new, two-week musical theater camps where kids and teens will create a musical from start to finish. Alongside our camps for Littles (rising grades 1-3), Kids (rising grades 4-7), and Teens (rising grades 8-12), Constellation will also be bringing back Improv for Adults: Summer All–Play, a weekly comedy class for adults. Camps are running June 2 through July 25 and are conveniently located in various locations across downtown Bloomington, including Constellation Studios, the Constellation Playhouse, and the Waldron Arts Center. A full schedule of camps is available on Constellation Stage & Screen’s website and enrollment is officially open! New this session are Constellation’s two-week Musical Theater Camps, with options for both kids (rising 4th-7th graders) and teens (rising 7th-12th graders)! Kids will dive into the magical world of musical theater with Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods Jr., while Teens will focus on Stephen Schwartz’s Godspell. Campers will be led through the beginning-to-end process of putting on a musical from casting to learning music to choreography and will culminate in two showcase performances in front of a live audience. Both camps will be directed by Debby Jenkins, an accomplished veteran musical theater educator with expertise in music direction. Constellation is also excited to bring back Improv for Adults: Summer All-Play, an expanded version of Constellation’s regular improv classes for improvisers of all experience levels. Students will develop and build upon core improvisational techniques and principles, fostering skills in communication, collaboration, listening, adaptability, teamwork, and problem solving. Running Tuesdays, June 3 - July 22 (excluding July 1), Summer All-Play is a fantastically fun, welcoming, and supportive adult playground that will have you shouting, “Yes, AND!”
Constellation offers a limited number of full scholarships for students grades K-12. These scholarships are generously sponsored by IU Credit Union and allow students who qualify for free/reduced lunch to attend a Constellation class at no cost to them. For more details on sponsorships and how to apply, visit Constellation’s website. After three years of nearly sold-out summer camps, Constellation is encouraging families to enroll their students as soon as possible to guarantee their spot. Registration officially opened on Tuesday, February 4th, through Constellation’s website. For questions about programming, please contact Eric Shelley at [email protected].
