The City of Bloomington invites residents to join the Bloomington Volunteer Network (CBVN) for its most ambitious volunteer challenge to date. The CBVN 100,000 Volunteer Hours Challenge invites the community to complete a 100,000 hours of volunteer service with local nonprofits and community groups between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2026.
Residents across the city and county can create a free account on the Bloomington Volunteer Network and begin logging volunteer hours with local nonprofits. Throughout the year, the campaign’s progress will be displayed on the CBVN’s Volunteer Impact Page, and will include a leader board recognizing the organizations and individual volunteers who have logged the most hours. The campaign’s progress will be recognized during the City’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration event in January and the annual Be More Awards in April. The CBVN is partnering with IUCorps, the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce, and the Nonprofit Alliance on this campaign to further inspire volunteerism across the community. Residents interested in participating may take the following steps:
The organization, volunteer group, and top three individual volunteers who log the most hours in 2026 will be honored at the 2027 Be More Awards.
