City of Bloomington Utilities Partners with Oncourse Home Solutions to Offer Optional Home Protection Programs

The City of Bloomington Utilities (CBU) has partnered with Oncourse Home Solutions, an independent third-party provider of home protection programs, to offer optional service line and plumbing protection plans to residential customers in the area at preferred pricing.

Oncourse Home Solutions draws on 30 years of utility-born experience to support nearly 2 million homeowners nationwide. By providing 24/7 live support and a network of trusted local contractors, Oncourse delivers a high-standard safety net that saves homeowners more than $100 million in repair costs annually.

Homeowners are often unaware that the water service line and sewer lateral connecting their property to CBU’s mains are their responsibility to maintain and repair. When issues occur, repair costs can range from hundreds to thousands of dollars and are often not covered by standard homeowners’ insurance policies. Beginning this month, through CBU’s partnership with Oncourse Home Solutions, customers have access to optional protection plans for exterior water and sewer service lines (also referred to as ‘laterals'), and in-home plumbing systems at preferred pricing, reducing the financial burden of unexpected repairs. ​

Tree root intrusion can be a particular concern in Bloomington. As a certified Tree City of the World, Bloomington's extensive urban canopy contributes to the community's charm, but roots can damage underground infrastructure. In addition, portions of Bloomington's older sewer infrastructure and private sewer service connections include clay piping, which can be susceptible to cracking and leakage over time.
