City of Bloomington Planning & Transportation and Utilities Departments to Host Listening Session on January 14th

The City of Bloomington Planning & Transportation and Utilities Departments have commissioned American Structurepoint to conduct an independent and comprehensive audit of our development review and permitting processes. They'll help us identify redundancies, bottlenecks, communication issues and other pain points with a goal of significantly improving our services. As part of the project, American Structurepoint will be facilitating a series of interview sessions with stakeholders familiar with our review and permitting processes, and you’ve been identified as a desired participant in those sessions.

You do not need to prepare or bring anything to participate. We hope you'll just come with your experience and awareness of the City’s development-related assets and challenges, and be prepared to provide your honest feedback.

The interview sessions will take place at the Monroe County Downtown Library Branch, 303 E. Kirkwood Ave, Bloomington, on January 14, 2026.

There will be four small group sessions, each lasting approximately one hour and twenty minutes. The groups include the following:

• 9:30 AM - 10:50 AM, Meeting Room 1C   Design Professionals (Engineers, Architects, Surveyors, Planners) and Realtors/Brokers
• 11:00 AM - 12:20 PM, Meeting Room 1C   Local Business Owners and Small-Project Applicants
• 1:30 PM – 2:50 PM, Meeting Room 2A   Developers
• 3:00 PM – 4:20 PM, Meeting Room 2A   Builders and Contractors

We invite you to attend the Local Business Owners and Small-Project Applicants session from 11:00 AM to 12:20 PM in Meeting Room 1C. Feel free to forward this invitation to an appropriate designee within your organization if necessary. If you (or your alternate) are unable to participate in this activity, please let us know so that we can find an alternative method to ensure that your voice is heard in this process.
