Common Ground is a hopeful and uplifting story of the pioneers of the “Regenerative Movement” who produce tremendous quantities of nutritionally dense food and are working to balance the climate – all while bringing our entire ecosystem back to life.

The documentary film explores how Americans from different walks of life, different political backgrounds, and different parts of the country share one thing in common –the very soil beneath their feet. The film investigates the power of “regenerative” farming systems –from large to small-scale farmers who are the champions of soil health as the key to unlocking more (and healthier) food to feed America and the world.

Cast includes: Laura Dern, Rosario Dawson, Jason Mamoa, Woody Harrelson, Ian Somerhalder and Donald Glover.

Event: Henry Cho

Description: On February 11, American Stand Up Comedian Henry Cho was inducted as the 229th member of The Grand Ole Opry. This prestigious honor has not been extended to a comedian since 1973.

Henry’s TV credits include appearances on NBC’s The Tonight Show, CBS’s The Late, Late, Show, and NBC’s Young Comedians Special. He served two years as host of NBC’s Friday Night Videos and had many guest roles on various network sitcoms. Henry was co-creator, co- producer and co-writer of “The Henry Cho Show” on GAC.

Henry’s one hour Comedy Central Special, “What’s That Clickin Noise?” was also on Netflix. Henry can also be heard daily on Sirius XM Blue Collar Radio and Pandora.

Some of Henry’s film credits include Universal’s "McHale’s Navy" with Tom Arnold and David Allen Greer; "Say It Isn’t So" with Heather Graham and Sally Field; and "Material Girls" with Hilary Duff and Angelica Houston produced by Madonna.

​Henry was the keynote entertainer for The 59th Annual Radio & Television Correspondents’ Dinner and has worked extensively with Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Willie Nelson, Carrie Underwood, Reba and many others. Henry’s clean comedy is so versatile that he can headline Vegas and then tour with Michael W. Smith.

Event: Live at the BCT - The Matriarch & Syzygy

Description: Engage yourself in a listening room experience live at Buskirk-Chumley Theater. This program invites the community to appreciate diverse sounds and expressions of Bloomington’s talented creatives and artists.

The Matriarch is a queer, indie rock/folk pop band based out of Bloomington, IN. The band consists of Mal Babcock, Mal Benoit, Jo Hockemeyer, and Trevor Webb. The band’s origins are one of cosmic coincidence- an unexpected knee injury during the height of the pandemic gave space for the members to experiment with a new creative outlet: music. Their determination to grow together musically and to create a safe, inclusive space for the LGBTQIA+ community made them darlings of the Bloomington music scene. Two years later, the band has played over 50 shows across Indiana, opening for contemporaries including Kid Sistr, Okey Dokey, Busman’s Holiday and Glad Rags.

Syzygy is a queer punk rock band based in Bloomington, Indiana. Inspired by the queercore movement of the 80s and riot grrrl movement of the 90s, they aim to raise awareness through their music on themes such as transphobia, homophobia, relationship violence, sexism, and lived experiences.

$1 from each “Live at Buskirk-Chumley Theater” ticket sale will benefit a local nonprofit or cause. Proceeds from September’s show will be donated to Girls Rock Bloomington, a local nonprofit that teaches positive self-esteem and self-expression through music education and mentoring to girls, trans, and non-binary youth (ages 8-14) through their annual summer camp, workshops, after-school programs and more.
