Bloomington’s 2025 Women’s History Month Luncheon to Honor Women Who Inspire and Educate

The City of Bloomington’s Commission on the Status of Women invites the community to celebrate the 2025 Women’s History Month Luncheon on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the Monroe Convention Center (302 S. College Ave.).

This year’s theme is “Moving Forward Together! Women Who Educate and Inspire Generations.” This theme celebrates the collective strength and influence of women who have dedicated their lives to education, mentorship, and leadership. Through their efforts, they have served as an inspiration for all generations—both past and present.

This year’s keynote presenter is Tamara Winfrey-Harris. Winfrey-Harris is a writer who specializes in the ever-evolving space where current events, politics, and pop culture intersect with race and gender. She is the author of Dear Black Girl and The Sisters Are Alright. Winfrey-Harris’ writing can be found in The New York Times, The Atlantic, Cosmopolitan, New York Magazine, and The Los Angeles Times. Her essays have also been anthologized in The Lemonade Reader: Beyonce, Black Feminism and Spirituality (Routledge, 2019); The Burden: African Americans and the Enduring Impact of Slavery (Wayne State University Press, 2018); Black in the Middle: An Anthology of the Black Midwest (Black Belt Publishing, 2020); and others. Winfrey-Harris graduated with a BA degree from the Greenlee School of Journalism at Iowa State University, and is a native of Gary, IN. She was recently named president of the Women's Fund of Central Indiana.
The luncheon will also recognize the 2025 Women’s Achievement Award winners, which include the following award categories: 2025 Woman of the Year, the Toby Strout Lifetime Contribution Award, Emerging Leader and Young Woman of the Year. The winners for each of these categories will be announced soon.

Additionally, women-owned businesses and local organizations for women are invited to reserve exhibit space for the luncheon. Exhibits will be available for viewing by luncheon attendees prior to the start of the program. To apply, visit
