Amplify Bloomington and the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce will hold an info session on Tuesday, August 4, at 6 p.m. at The Mill classroom, 642 N. Madison St., to introduce The Builder’s Room. The Bloomington Urban Enterprise Association (BUEA) is supporting seven spots in the cohort located within the Bloomington Urban Enterprise Zone to participate in this new hands-on cohort program that helps local businesses use AI-assisted tools to solve real operational challenges.

The Builder’s Room is for established Bloomington area businesses looking to go beyond AI awareness and develop practical tools. No coding or technical experience is needed. Participants will identify a business challenge, map workflows, and prototype a tool to support operations.

Potential project areas include customer intake forms, AI-assisted FAQ or chatbot tools, marketing and website visibility improvements, internal dashboards, staff training tools, inventory or back-office workflows, customer follow-up systems, and automations for repetitive tasks.

IU Health proud to support the inaugural IU School of Medicine Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine residency programs

7/29/2026

After medical school, there’s a point in time of every doctor’s career where they take their hard-earned knowledge and turn it into expert skill through hands-on experience. IU Health South Region is proud to help the inaugural Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine residency programs through the IU School of Medicine do just that.

“Each of those programs are three years of training,” said John Sparzo, MD, IU Health South Region Chief Medical Officer. “When our residents leave, they'll be ready to take their board exams and be fully board-certified internists and emergency medicine doctors.”

“When students finish medical school they become doctors but they can't practice until they complete a medical residency,” said Katherine Hiller, MD, IU School of Medicine—Bloomington Associate Dean and Director. “This is sort of like an apprenticeship model where they learn on the job how to actually do the work.”

Search Is Changing: How Small Businesses Can Stay Visible in an AI-Driven World

In this post, David Martin breaks down how artificial intelligence is altering the way people find local companies online. Consumers are starting to ask AI tools specific questions rather than relying solely on short keyword searches. This means these systems are reading and summarizing website content to provide direct answers to potential customers.

While this sounds like a major shift, the good news is that the foundational elements of a strong online presence remain exactly the same. The article explains why showing genuine local expertise, maintaining accurate business profiles, and gathering real customer reviews are still your best assets.

To discover straightforward steps for making your company easier to find in this new search environment, read the full post at David Martin Design: https://davidmartindesign.com/seo/search-is-changing-ai-visibility/

City Announces Increased Traffic Enforcement Ahead of MCCSC School Year

7/22/2026

With the Monroe County Community School Corporation (MCCSC) school year beginning Wednesday, Aug. 6, the Bloomington Police Department (BPD) has started a traffic safety blitz focused on making Bloomington streets safer for drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists, and students returning to school.

Motorists should expect to see increased traffic enforcement throughout the city, especially in areas identified through crash data and resident complaints about unsafe driving. BPD has worked with data analysts to identify intersections and corridors with higher crash activity and recurring concerns about traffic violations.

Enforcement will focus on areas with documented crash patterns, school-year traffic concerns, and repeated resident complaints. Drivers are encouraged to use extra caution near schools, crosswalks, bus stops, bike lanes, and areas with heavy pedestrian activity.

The Commission on the Status of Black Males will host the National Million Father March on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. at Fairview Elementary School, 500 W. 7th Street.

The event is organized locally by the Commission on the Status of Black Males and is part of a nationwide initiative led by Fathers Incorporated. The Million Father March encourages fathers, father figures, and male mentors to accompany students to school during the first week of the academic year.

"The Million Father March reflects the kind of community Bloomington strives to be one, where every child knows they are supported and every family knows they have a village behind them,” said Shatoyia Moss, City of Bloomington Community and Family Resources Director. “By bringing together fathers, mentors, volunteers, educators, and community members, we're creating meaningful connections that extend far beyond the first day of school. These moments of encouragement help foster student success, strengthen relationships, and remind our young people that an entire community is invested in their future.”
