Stop Selling Your Services. Start Selling the Problem You Solve.

3/24/2026

I used to believe that if I was skilled enough, the right clients would just find me.

They didn't. Not because I wasn't good. Because I couldn't tell them what problem I solved.

I could direct a commercial, fly a drone, edit a reel, and build a content strategy. But when someone asked "What do you actually do?" I'd freeze—and then unload a list of services that left their eyes glazed over.

In my new article, I break down the exact process I used to get clear: how to stop overwhelming potential clients and start attracting the ones who actually need you.

It's not about being more talented. It's about being understood.

If you've ever felt like your skills deserve more attention than they're getting, this one's for you.

Strut to Success was created to give girls a safe space to build confidence, strengthen identity, and develop leadership skills that will serve them throughout their lives.

This past quarter, we officially launched Teen Strut Circle at Bachelor Middle School, where 16 seventh-grade girls participated in a structured leadership cohort focused on identity development, emotional wellness, healthy friendships, and confidence.

While this is just the beginning, it represents an important step toward building something sustainable and meaningful for girls in our community.

Below you’ll find our Quarter 1 Community Impact Brief, which highlights:
• The launch of Teen Strut Circle
• Our early program impact

When SPF, DKIM, and DMARC Don’t Align: Fixing a Gmail Warning for the Bloomington Chamber

Why Gmail Sometimes Shows a Red Warning Banner
A Real-World Email Authentication Fix for the Bloomington Chamber

Picture
Email feels simple when it works. You write a message, hit send, and it arrives in someone’s inbox a moment later.

But behind the scenes, email relies on a system of verification checks. These checks protect people from phishing, spam, and impersonation. When everything is configured correctly, recipients never notice them.

When something is misconfigured, even a legitimate message can look suspicious.

That’s exactly what happened in February 2026 when an email from the Bloomington Chamber of Commerce arrived in my inbox with a large red warning banner from Gmail. The message was completely legitimate — it came from Chamber CEO Eric Spoonmore — but Gmail was telling recipients something was wrong.

City of Bloomington and INDOT Reach Agreement to Reduce Tree Removal Along Pete Ellis Drive and E. 10th Street

3/18/2026

The City of Bloomington and the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) have reached a preliminary agreement that significantly reduces the number of mature oak trees scheduled for removal along E. 10th Street near Pete Ellis Drive.

INDOT previously notified the City that up to fifteen oak trees along the corridor could be removed as part of planned work in the state right-of-way near the Pete Ellis Drive post office. Following discussions with the City and a review of community concerns, INDOT revised its plans, reducing the number of trees expected to be removed to seven, preserving eight mature oaks along Pete Ellis Drive.

The City raised concerns after hearing from residents about the potential loss of mature tree canopy along the corridor. City staff communicated those concerns to the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and worked collaboratively to explore options that would reduce the number of trees impacted while allowing the state’s SR 45 (10th Street) & Pete Ellis Drive intersection improvements and SR 45 added travel lanes project to proceed. The updated plan reflects those discussions and a shared effort to balance infrastructure improvements with preservation of Bloomington’s urban tree canopy.

Celebrate Earth Day with the Waste Reduction District and the City of Bloomington By Using Compost Bins and Rain Barrels

3/16/2026

When we work together to encourage stewardship actions, we reach more people and different sectors of the community. That’s why the Waste Reduction District, (District) and the City of Bloomington are again partnering in an EARTH DAY PROMOTION OF RAIN BARRELS AND COMPOST BINS. With climate change, the use of both devices is on people’s minds. In fact, the use of rain barrels and compost bins is a national trend. That’s why the District and the City of Bloomington are offering rain barrels, compost bins, and accessories for preordering in honor of EARTH DAY and ARBOR DAY. Orders are taken online at wastereductionistrictorders.com. Items will be available for pickup April 24th (8 am to 4 pm) and April 25th  (8 am to 2 pm) at the South Walnut Recycling Center. The order deadline is APRIL 15th and there is NO shipping cost. This promotion is NOT limited to Monroe County residents. Others in other counties may also order but pickup will be in Bloomington.

The Waste Reduction District’s Community Outreach Coordinator Elisa Pokral says, “We are two partners with a goal—to encourage Monroe County residents and others in other counties to use rain barrels and compost bins, for a healthier earth.” She explains that “Adopting these two basic stewardship practices, in addition to recycling, opens people’s eyes as to the immense impact they can make and what the world can gain in reducing waste, of water and food, conserving water, reducing greenhouse gases from landfills, creating free soil, and saving money! Both composting and the use of rain barrels are simple and easy practices to do. Rain barrels can reduce your utility bill by up to 40%.”

Shawn Miya, Assistant Director of Sustainability for the City of Bloomington's Economic and Sustainable Development Department, emphasizes, “No matter where you live or work—whether in a rural, suburban, or urban area—everyone can benefit from collecting rainwater and composting kitchen waste. Rain barrels help reduce stormwater runoff—water that drains or soaks into the ground, often carrying harmful pollutants into our waterways. Compost bins not only lowers your trash costs, but also provides you with rich, free soil. It’s a simple yet powerful change that has a lasting, positive impact on both our environment and community.”
