This fall the NAACP Monroe County Branch's Education Committee is organizing an event commemorating the 70th anniversary of the landmark 1954 Supreme Court decision, Brown v. Board of Education, which ruled that racial segregation of children in public schools was unconstitutional.
The event, 70 Years Post-Brown: Looking to the Past, Transforming the Future, will offer an afternoon of engaging action-oriented dialogue focused on improving the educational experiences of youth in our local community. We intend to move beyond simply honoring the historic Brown v. Board of Education decision and toward a renewed commitment to equitable, quality education for all youth. Together, we will explore how we can continue to work toward the vision of equal opportunity in education for all. 70 Years Post-Brown: Looking to the Past, Transforming the Future Date: Sunday, October 13, 2024 Time: 3:00 PM Location: Downtown Monroe County Public Library, 303 E. Kirkwood Avenue, Bloomington, IN 47408 We sincerely hope you will join us!
