Monroe County Clerk Democratic Primary: May 5th, 2026

Candidate: Tanner Branham (D)

Tanner Branham is currently a Web Services Support Specialist and Political Campaign Strategist at Indiana University. In this role, he provides administrative and organizational expertise relevant to the clerk's office. Combined with his experience in political engagement roles such as door-to-door campaigning and grass roots organizing, Tanner has the political and administrative background to make him a candidate familiar with the operational and civic aspects of the clerk's responsibilities. His campaign emphasizes commitment to community and providing accessible and efficient public services.

Candidate: Tree Martin-Lucas (D)

Tree Martin-Lucas brings nearly eight years of direct, hands-on experience in the Monroe County Clerk’s Office -- experience that uniquely prepares her to serve as Clerk from her first day in office. She began her service as Election Supervisor, a role she held for over a year, directly managing elections, overseeing voter registration processes, and ensuring strict compliance with Indiana election law. Based on her performance and leadership, she was appointed Chief Deputy Clerk, where she served the community for more than six and a half years and became the office’s senior operational leader. Tree prioritizes fairness, accuracy, and respect for the community she might serve.

Candidate: Joe Davis (D)

Joe is a Bloomington resident and an independent candidate and has a background in land stewardship and community caretaking. He was raised as a farm boy in Cass County, Indiana. Joe has been active in advocating for responsible, equitable land use and protecting local land resources. He aims to bring voice, equity, representation, and power to the people of Monroe County. ​

Monroe County Clerk General Election: November 5th, 2026

Candidate: Julie Hays (R)

Julie Hays is a lifelong resident of Monroe County, Indiana. She comes from a hardworking family that owned and operated Hays Market that was a longtime grocery store where they served residents of this community.
Hays graduated from Ivy Tech Community College with a degree in Business Administration and is currently employed with Cook Medical as a quality control inspector where attention to detail, accountability, and organization are essential every day. She is running as a Republican.
