UPDATE: Trey Hollingsworth has prevailed in the Nov. 3 general election. 

This page provides information about candidates in the Nov. 3 general election for the 9th District Congressional seat: Republican Trey Hollingsworth; Libertarian Tonya Millis; and Democrat Andy Ruff. 

​This is a two-year term for the seat representing south-central Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives, including Brown, Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Jackson, Johnson, Lawrence, Monroe, Orange, and Washington counties as well as parts of Crawford, Morgan, and Scott counties. Click here for a district map.

Trey Hollingsworth (R)

Republican Trey Hollingsworth, a Jeffersonville resident, is the incumbent District 9 Representative to Congress. He was first elected to this position in 2016. Before being elected to Congress, he founded Hollingsworth Capital Partners, which focused on rehabbing old industrial sites. He also started an aluminum remanufacturing company called Alexin, based in Bluffton.

Tonya Millis is a resident of Lawrence County and works as a Realtor with Suddarth & Company Real Estate, based in Mitchell. According to the bio on her campaign website, she considered herself a Republican until 2016, and became a Libertarian after researching the party's positions.

Andy Ruff (D)

Andy Ruff, a Bloomington resident, is an academic advisor for the Indiana University human biology program. He served on the Bloomington City Council for 20 years, but lost his latest bid for re-election in 2019. He prevailed in a five-way Democratic Party primary on June 2 to be the party's nominee on Nov. 3.
