PRESS RELEASE: Greater Bloomington Chamber Launches Bloomington Rainbow Leadership Network

The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce has announced the launch of the Bloomington Rainbow Leadership Network, a new Chamber-affiliated initiative designed to support LGBTQ+ professionals, business owners, and allies while strengthening Bloomington’s economic and leadership landscape.

Founded in 2025 and launching publicly in 2026, the Rainbow Network was shaped by direct community input from local professionals, employers, nonprofit leaders, and small business owners. The initiative responds to a clear desire for intentional leadership development, professional connection, and employer engagement within Monroe County’s LGBTQ+ community.

“The Bloomington Rainbow Leadership Network reflects our belief that strong communities are built on strong leadership and meaningful connection,” said Eric Spoonmore, President & CEO of the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce. “By supporting LGBTQ+ professionals and fostering collaboration with employers, we are investing in talent retention, workforce development, and the long-term vitality of Bloomington’s business community.”

Programming will focus on building professional connections among LGBTQ+ leaders and allies, supporting mentorship and career growth, engaging employers in shared learning that strengthens workplace practices, and elevating LGBTQ+ leadership and contributions across the local economy.

Participation is open to LGBTQ+ community members and allies who live, work, study, or volunteer in Monroe County. Attendance at Rainbow Network events does not require Chamber membership.

The Rainbow Network will host its first event on Wednesday, May 6, at International Art Project in downtown Bloomington. The launch event will introduce the Rainbow Network’s vision and provide opportunities for connection among professionals, employers, and civic leaders.
